Our Story
"A dream is a wish your heart makes"
A note from our founder;
Little Crusoe was born out of a desire to start a small resort wear brand for children.
Having spent many years living in Dubai and travelling the world, I came back home to the UK in 2016. I met my husband soon after and within a few years our little boy Joshua came along. (The cheeky little Redhead you'll see in some of our campaign photos!) During this time, i took a career break from my job as a Corporate Flight Attendant to focus on spending time with my family.
I started to think about a career i could have based around being a mummy to Josh and i had always dreamed of starting my own little brand. I love shopping and fashion and one of the great things about travelling was having the opportunity to shop all over the world, find interesting boutiques and niche brands. When i was pregnant with Josh, i searched high and low to find the clothing styles i preferred for him. I loved classic, minimalistic style with little details that stood out here or there. I thought more and more about children's clothing and began some extensive research. I also took a course at Central St Martins to get to know the industry a little better.
Completely inspired by my love of travel and some of the amazing places i have been lucky enough to visit, i focused on my desire to create a capsule collection of luxury resort style clothing for babies and toddlers. In 2021 i incorporated my company and Little Crusoe was born.
Designs were sampled in the UK with a view to producing my clothing here, but i also looked into manufacturing in Portugal as it was so well regarded within the industry.
Following a chance email or two with a factory, i have since developed a wonderful relationship with two lovely ladies who now oversee all of my production in Portugal. Made even more meaningful by Portugal holding a special place in my family's heart.
Original designs have since evolved into my inaugural collection. Incorporating minimalism with signature statement pieces, I have blended linen and jerseys to create a capsule collection of resort wear and luxury loungewear pieces. Having first hand experience of a young child, it was of the utmost importance that my clothing range be stylish yet practical and comfortable for little people.
It's been quite the journey to get to where we are now (more stories of that another time!) I never quite anticipated just how much time, energy and emotion would go into starting this brand (during a pandemic, with a new baby!) but it truly has. Thank you so much for supporting us and and joining our Little Crusoe family, it means everything to me.
On a final note, i just have to mention my Dad - I would never have pursued this dream if it wasn't for him. I hope he is proud 🤍
